Saltwater fishing has been a life-long passion. For me, nothing matches the thrill of fighting a big fish on light tackle; wading the salt flats on the incoming tide for Bonefish, or trolling the deep blue Gulf Stream 40 miles off shore. I’ve earned a living as an architect, and I’ve worked with wood most of my adult life. About fifteen years ago I felt compelled to express my love for the great fish in some artistic way, and I began carving.
I carve my fish by hand from Basswood. I hand-paint them with brush and acrylics. I try to replicate the natural form of the fish. As I paint, I amplify colors slightly to energize the final sculpture.
